Last week we celebrated Stand Up Week as our school takes a stand against homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying. Our main aim was to raise awareness about this throughout the week by both celebrating our LGBTI+ students but also acknowledging the challenges they face, particularly in a school setting.
Our staff members stood up for stand-up week by attending a staff workshop on Friday. We talked about what we can all do as teachers to support our LGBTI+ students in our classrooms. This is especially important to us because as a Mary Ward school, we always strive to both embrace and affirm diversity and cultivate values needed now. Well done to all involved!
