Street Artist & Past Pupil Anna Doran Talks To 5th Year Art

in Departments, News

Thank you so much to Street Artist and past pupil, Anna Doran. She joined our 5th Year Art class today and she was so inspirational. We learnt so much about the process of her work and the different public art/street art initiatives in Dublin. Some of her recent commissions include Kildare Village, Facebook, Urban Outfitters, Waterford Walls and Love Lane Temple Bar. She said she now has a cherry picker crane licence.

Anna said ‘Beaufort was very kind to her’. We saw Anna’s wonderful work in Temple Bar when we went on the street art tour this month. She is part of a female street art group called MINAW COLLECTIVE | All-Female Street Art Collective. She said ‘All my work is based on maths actually, I use a lot of geometry in my work (so you can blame Ms Cody for that!).’

We are so grateful to her for taking the time out to talk to us today.

Anna is inspired by the flora and fauna of Ireland. Here work highlights the area of biodiversity and how we need to celebrate and care for life on land. 5th Year art will collaborate with Anna to create a mural for the school. They want to highlight Global Goal 15 – Life On Land. Using biodiversity on the grounds of the school as a starting point they will work as a team to create a mural for the school. We are grateful to WorldWise Global Schools for giving us a grant to support this work.
