Visit From Our German Exchange Students

in Departments, News

In April the TY students from our German class welcomed a group of students from the Rupert-Neß Gymnasium, Wangen in rural South-Western Germany. The exchange partners spent the second week of the Easter holidays and one week of school together.

The Beaufort girls had planned a lot of activities for their German guests including a trip to Tayto Park, an evening of Irish dancing and traditional music, shopping in Dublin – and even attending an Ed Sheeran concert!

In school, the German students got the chance to experience a few days in TY at Beaufort, attending all normal classes and taking part in activities, for example gardening! In our German class we interviewed the girls, talked about differences between our two countries and even did some Irish dancing to complete the cultural exchange programme.

The girls from Wangen were also very generous with their time, meeting the Beaufort students from 1st, 2ndand 3rd year German classes, helping them with their oral work and exchanging experiences of language learning. Our TY students will head over to Germany for two weeks in July in order to spend some time with their exchange partners there, keep improving their German and experience life in the secondary school in Wangen. We already wish them lots of fun – viel Spaß!
