‘Walking In Someone Else’s Shoes’ – TY WorldWise Global Shoes

in News, TY News

TY Art started the year exploring their primary source – a runner. This developed into a sculptural shoe based on a theme relating to a Global Goal. The idea was to portray what it is like to walk in someone else’s shoes and really try to understand what it is like for that person, land or ocean. We discussed how this work can make an inequality visual and can raise awareness about how we as humans can help change this by our actions. They repurposed found items and used waste materials to create the work. Some of the themes students focused on were Gender Equality, Human Rights and Poverty. Thank to WorldWise Global Schools for the grant this year which has really supported our learning around GCE. We now have two fabulous exhibition boards that can be used to display students GCE work. Thank you so much to our education officer Sinead Hayes for her ongoing support throughout the year and for visiting us at the start of this academic year for a whole staff CPD.
