Who Are We and What We DO:
We in Loreto High School Beaufort see the value in embracing and affirming diversity, as per our Mary Ward Compass. We celebrate inclusivity through celebrating Stand Up Week every year to show support for the LGBTQ+ community. We also have a Gender and Sexuality Alliance Club where many members of the school community meet up to plan Stand Up Week and promote inclusivity.
The Belong To Quality Mark:
The LGBTQ+ Quality Mark is a secondary school 2 year initiative that provides a comprehensive approach to developing an LGBTQ+ safe and supportive school. We are following these steps in Beaufort to get the Q Mark too – watch this space!
- Ensuring that staff are equipped to support LGBTQ+ students.
- Creating a supportive, LGBTQ+ inclusive school culture and environment.
- Encouraging students to share their opinions and ideas on how to create a safe and supportive school.
- Developing and implementing effective school policies and plans.
- Implementing a curriculum that supports diversity and respect.
- Working with parents, community organisations and other local LGBTQ+ youth projects or groups to promote LGBTQ+ inclusion.
